Your Voice - Building a Better Future for Maternity and Neonatal Care

On Monday 21 September, NHS England launched “Your Voice - Building a Better Future for Maternity and Neonatal Care” – an NHS-wide conversation with staff on improving maternity and neonatal care. 

The conversation will be open for three weeks online, and will help to inform the National Maternity and Neonatal Taskforce, and what happens next.

The launch of this national conversation follows a series of national inquiries and reviews on these services, but feels particularly timely following last week’s publishing of the Thirlwall Report on the independent inquiry into events at the Countess of Chester Hospital between 2015 and 2018.

Our thoughts are first and foremost with the babies and families at the heart of these terrible events. What happened at the Countess of Chester Hospital was shocking, unacceptable and extremely serious and it is important that lessons are learnt so that such events cannot be allowed to occur again in the future.

We need staff who work in and alongside these services across Cheshire and Merseyside to be involved in driving solutions, and that’s why we want to encourage as many staff as possible to take part in this conversation.
